I want to make a Mag Zone completely and permanently invisible in preview. Using the Visibility switch in Properties, does not do the job, because P6 unhides the Zone if "Deformers >Show All" is used. This pose file will make the Zone completely transparent for the current session, but on a save and reload to pz3 it is visible again. icon_sad.gif

Code:
{

version
   {
   number 4.01
   }

actor $CURRENT
   {
   on
   material Preview
      {
      tMax 1.000
      }
   }
}

For the Mag and Base I can strip the geometry out of the prop to make certain it does not become visible. For some strange reason this does not work with the Zone, Poser seems to put geometry back in there when it reloads a pz3. Apparently V4 (which I don't have) has permanent magnets attached, so presumably DAZ have found a way to permanently hide the Zones. Apart from the normal frustration of not knowing how to do something, it bugs me no end that DAZ can do something that I can't. HELP!

Apparently the Zones in V4 point to a null.obj file that contains the one line "g Null". I have tried the null obj method, but when I reload the pz3, the Zone ball prop is back again.

It has been a long time since I set Super Star Vickie up, so I forget how DAZ hides the magnet zones, but whaterer they did I just copied it.

However, when you save the CR2 the spheres (not the magnets) become visable again, I do remember that part.

It is starting to come back to me- you have to delete the "buildSphere" line from the CR2.

Try that!

Nope, deleting the "buildSphere" line, or even all of the "Falloff" stuff does not remove the Zone geometry, though it does make it load a lot smaller, see attached graphic. The smaller Zone sphere is an improvement, but not much use to me in my current project. Perhaps an explanation is in order.

My project is a pose file, meant for distribution, and its primary purpose is to add slaving code to magnets that the end user creates. Everything is working well, and the pose is almost ready for release, just a bit more testing, and a bit of work on the help file needed, and it's ready. Except for this damned Zone visibility problem.

Because this is a pose file, and the actual magnets are created by the end user, there is no possibility of deleting the "buildSphere" line, as a pz2 can't do that.

I seem to have run into a brick wall with geometry based solutions, and my only hope is that there is something in the shaderTree that can force complete and permanent (through save and reload) transparency.

Thanks for the ideas Jim, let me know if you have any other thoughts on this.
