When a prop is parented to a figure, saving a pose for the figure will also save pose data for the parented prop. If it is desired to save pose data for the prop only, then 'Select Subset' can be used from the 'Set Name' box when saving the pose.
Most types of pose (pz2) file that can not be directly saved from the Poser interface, such as MAT, MOR, Scale, Delta Injection, etc, can also be applied to props.
One way of collecting pose data for pose types that can not be saved directly from the Poser interface is to save a cr2 with the parented prop posed as desired, then copy and paste the relevent data into a
pz2 file template.
It is still offten said that poses can not be applied to unparented props, this is not correct. Poses can be applied to unparented props, however a figure must exist in the document before any pose can be applied. A pose for an unparented prop must refer to the prop as an 'actor'. For example, where a pose for a prop parented to a figure can refer to;
prop box_1
a pose for an unparented prop must refer to;
actor box_1
A pose made for a figure can usually be applied to any figure that contains actors with the same internal names (there are some caviats). The situation with respect to props is diffrent.
If you make a pose for "box_1", if you then load another instance of the prop into the scene, Poser will increment the number and the new prop will be named "box_2", the pose you made will not work on "box_2" as it does not refer to "box_2". If you needed to set a pose for 3 instances (for example) of the prop you have to include 3 seperate blocks in the pose file, for box_1, box_2, and box_3.
